How Much Does a Wedding Band Cost in the UK in 2026?

Updated 19 May 2026

What Determines the Price?

Several factors influence how much a wedding band costs: the number of musicians in the band (a 10-piece will cost more than a 4-piece), the band's experience and track record, the date (peak season weekends command premium pricing), travel requirements (destination weddings add logistics costs), and whether you're booking direct or through an agency.

Price Ranges to Expect

At the budget end (£1,000–£2,500) you'll find part-time musicians, smaller line-ups and less experience. Mid-range (£2,500–£5,000) delivers experienced professional bands with full PA and lighting. Premium bands (£5,000+) bring world-class musicianship, show production, and an exceptional track record. For destination weddings, add travel, accommodation and logistics costs.

Agency Fees Add 20–30%

If you book through an agency, you're typically paying 20–30% more than the band's own rate — for no benefit to your event. That commission doesn't make the band better. Booking direct means that money stays in your pocket or goes directly to the musicians.

What Should Be Included?

A good quote should include: all musician fees, PA system and sound engineering, stage lighting, two full live sets (typically 45–60 minutes each), DJ/disco music between and after sets, and setup/breakdown time. Always confirm what's included before comparing quotes.
